About Pimoroni

Pimoroni is an independent electronics company based in Sheffield, UK, created in 2012 by Jon Williamson and Paul Beech. What began with a simple idea to create a colourful laser-cut acrylic case for the newly introduced Raspberry Pi has grown into a well-known maker-focused business designing, manufacturing, and supplying electronics for curious people around the world.

The name Pimoroni comes from “Pirate, Monkey, Robot, Ninja,” reflecting the playful and unconventional spirit behind the company. Today, Pimoroni develops its own range of electronics while also offering carefully selected products from leading makers and technology brands. The company is an official reseller for Raspberry Pi, Adafruit, micro, SparkFun, and other manufacturers.

What We Make

Pimoroni does more than sell electronics — we design and manufacture them ourselves. Our production capabilities include PCB manufacturing for Raspberry Pi, micro, and Raspberry Pi Pico add-ons, as well as RP2040-based microcontrollers and other electronic products.

We also create accessible kits and projects designed to make experimentation more enjoyable, from beginner-friendly electronics and lighting projects to robotics, arcade machines, displays, sensors, audio products, and other creative technology.

Our work also extends beyond our own product range. We have collaborated with universities and organizations including Google, Microsoft, and GitHub to develop bespoke electronic products and custom boards for specific projects and applications.

Made in Sheffield

Pimoroni is proud to remain an independent manufacturer with its roots in Sheffield, a city with a long history of manufacturing and engineering. Our team works across engineering, design, production, logistics, shipping, administration, and customer support, bringing together the skills needed to take an idea from concept to finished product.

Our PCB production facilities are designed to support both efficient manufacturing and smaller development runs. Every board we produce is assembled and tested by our production team before it leaves our facility.

For Curious Makers

At Pimoroni, we believe technology is more interesting when people can experiment with it, take it apart, modify it, and make it their own. Our products are created to help people explore electronics, build projects, learn new skills, and turn ideas into working creations.

From robots and home automation to sensors, blinking lights, arcade projects, and unusual electronic experiments, we aim to make getting started easier while leaving plenty of room for creativity.

Supporting the Maker Community

Our relationship with the maker community is an important part of Pimoroni. Alongside creating products and educational resources, we support events and projects and maintain a commitment to open-source software.

We also work to reduce our environmental impact where possible by using biodegradable or reusable packaging, reducing waste, and recycling materials.

Pimoroni continues to be driven by curiosity, creativity, and a love of making. Whether you are building your first electronic project or developing something much more ambitious, we're here to provide the tools, components, kits, and inspiration to help you make it happen.
