About Peluva

Our Story

Peluva was created from a simple idea: shoes should allow your feet to move naturally.

The story of Peluva began with Mark Sisson, an elite endurance athlete who competed in the 1980 U.S. Olympic Trials Marathon and later finished fourth at the Hawaii Ironman World Championships in 1982. After years of high-level competition and dealing with injuries, Mark became increasingly interested in how footwear affects natural movement and foot function.

Over many years, Mark explored barefoot movement and searched for footwear that could provide the benefits of natural foot movement while still offering the comfort and practicality people expect from everyday shoes.

Building a Different Kind of Shoe

Mark believed there was an opportunity for a shoe that combined individual toe separation, a comfortable amount of cushioning, and a design suitable for everyday life.

Together with his son Kyle, Mark began developing that idea into a real product. Kyle brought experience in operations, supply chains, and brand development, while Mark brought decades of experience studying movement, performance, and barefoot living.

They founded Peluva in 2021 and spent approximately two years developing and testing their first footwear before launching the first Peluva shoe in late 2023.

Designed Around the Human Foot

Peluva footwear is designed around the idea that the toes should have room to move and function independently.

The brand's five-toe design gives each toe its own space, while its flexible construction and cushioning are intended to provide a balance between natural movement and everyday comfort.

Peluva's approach combines elements of barefoot footwear with practical features designed for modern lifestyles, creating shoes that can be used for training, walking, hiking, travel, and everyday activities.

Peluva remains a family-built company founded by Mark and Kyle Sisson. Based in the United States, the company continues to develop footwear around its core belief that shoes should work with the natural structure and movement of the human foot.

From the first concept to the development of its modern five-toe footwear, Peluva has remained focused on creating shoes that combine function, comfort, and contemporary style.
