About Kevyn Aucoin Beauty

Kevyn Aucoin Beauty was founded in 2001 by legendary makeup artist Kevyn Aucoin, whose groundbreaking work helped redefine modern makeup artistry. Built upon his belief in the transformative power of makeup, the brand continues his vision of celebrating individuality, self-expression, artistry, and beauty in all its forms.

Kevyn's fascination with makeup began when he was a child in Louisiana. Inspired by the fashion magazines he discovered growing up, he began experimenting with makeup on his sister and friends and photographing the looks he created. His passion eventually led him to New York City, where his extraordinary talent and determination opened the door to a career that would change the beauty industry.

As his reputation grew, Kevyn became one of the most sought-after makeup artists of his generation. He worked with some of the world's most recognizable models, musicians, and celebrities and became known for his ability to enhance a person's individual features rather than simply transform them. His work appeared across fashion editorials, advertising campaigns, music projects, television, and film.

Kevyn was also an educator and author. Through books including The Art of Makeup, Making Faces, and Face Forward, he shared his techniques and philosophy with a much wider audience. His approach to sculpting, contouring, and enhancing facial dimensions helped bring professional makeup artistry concepts into the mainstream while encouraging people to discover their own unique beauty.

In 2001, Kevyn transformed his artistic expertise into his own beauty brand. He developed products with the same standards he expected from the tools in his professional kit, emphasizing function, performance, luxurious textures, and versatility. Many of the brand's enduring products originated from his own professional techniques and continue to form part of the brand's Legacy Collection today.

Kevyn passed away in 2002, but his creative philosophy continues to guide the brand. Kevyn Aucoin Beauty remains committed to his belief that makeup should not simply cover the face, but help reveal individuality and confidence. The brand continues to develop high-performance makeup while preserving iconic products and techniques associated with Kevyn's legacy.

Today, Kevyn Aucoin Beauty brings together professional artistry and approachable beauty through products for the face, eyes, lips, and professional makeup tools. Education remains an important part of the brand through professional artists, consultations, masterclasses, and resources designed to help both beauty enthusiasts and makeup professionals develop their skills.

At its heart, Kevyn Aucoin Beauty remains true to the principles that defined its founder: originality, inclusivity, empowerment, artistry, and the freedom to experiment. His legacy lives on through a brand that continues to encourage everyone to explore makeup on their own terms and discover the beauty that is uniquely theirs.
