About Karla Cosmetics
Karla Cosmetics is a makeup brand founded by professional makeup artist Karla Powell, built from a lifelong passion for colour, creativity, artistry, and the transformative power of makeup.
Karla's love for makeup began when she was a child growing up in a small town in England. She was fascinated by watching her father create face-painting looks and soon developed a passion of her own. She studied makeup techniques, completed professional makeup courses, and in 2006 began teaching makeup and beauty at a local college.
From Makeup Artist to Founder
Karla's professional journey continued to grow when, in 2011, she became a brand ambassador for a leading UK makeup brand and moved to London. Her experience in product development, trend forecasting, and makeup artistry helped her build valuable knowledge within the beauty industry.
Her work eventually took her to major fashion events, including London and New York Fashion Weeks, while her growing presence online connected her with an expanding community of makeup enthusiasts and professionals.
With years of experience behind her, Karla founded Karla Cosmetics in 2013. The brand began with products including face and nail charts and lip brush sets before gradually developing into a broader cosmetics business.
Built Through Creativity and Innovation
Karla continued developing products while working as a makeup artist and balancing family life. Her experience working directly with makeup gave her a clear understanding of the textures, colours, finishes, and tools artists need.
In 2018, Karla introduced Fix Potion, a product developed from her own professional experience. Its early success gave the brand the confidence to continue creating original formulas and expanding its collection.
Karla Cosmetics has since become particularly known for colourful pigments, multichrome eyeshadows, gel eyeshadows, pressed pigments, palettes, eye bases, fixing products, and makeup tools.
Made for Self-Expression
At the heart of Karla Cosmetics is the belief that makeup should be creative, expressive, and enjoyable. The brand celebrates colour and individuality while creating products that can be used by makeup artists, beauty enthusiasts, and anyone who wants to experiment with their own style.
From vibrant multichrome pigments to versatile bases and makeup essentials, Karla Cosmetics creates products designed to encourage experimentation and help people discover new possibilities with makeup.
Made With Artists in Mind
Karla's background as a professional makeup artist remains an important part of the brand. Her hands-on experience continues to influence the development of textures, colours, and finishes.
Many Karla Cosmetics products are handcrafted by the team, with product development and creation taking place at the company's own headquarters. The brand also emphasizes cosmetic compliance, testing, and health and safety throughout its product development process.
A Growing Global Community
What began as Karla's personal passion has grown into an international cosmetics brand. According to the company's own journey, by 2024 Karla Cosmetics was shipping products to more than 30 countries across the world.
The brand has also developed a strong connection with professional makeup artists and beauty creators, while its products have appeared in high-profile entertainment and fashion contexts.
Our Vision
Karla Cosmetics continues to be driven by the same passion that inspired Karla from the beginning: creating innovative makeup that makes people excited to experiment, express themselves, and discover their own version of beauty.
From a young girl's fascination with her father's face-painting work to an internationally recognized cosmetics brand, Karla's journey is rooted in creativity, determination, professional expertise, and a belief that makeup can bring a little more magic into everyday life.
